FAQs
FAQs
How long do dried flowers last?
If kept in the right conditions, they will last for years as long as they are cared for properly. Some flowers such as strawflowers and gypsophilia (baby’s breath), are very long lasting. Handle your dried flowers with care and keep them out of direct sunlight, wind and humid conditions to enjoy your blooms for years. Some of our clients have reused their wedding flowers to decorate their homes, decorate their baby’s christening cakes, and some give individual flowers from their displays to guests as a keepsake.
Are dried flowers sustainable?
Yes, they are very sustainable. Fresh flowers have a very short lifespan, especially bridal bouquets as they are out of water for most of the wedding day. Folly + Bird grows and dries many of its own dried flowers, using chemical free methods. The company also sources locally when possible, so the carbon footprint is very low. Folly + Bird also uses plastic free packaging and materials almost exclusively, as this is a huge part of their sustainable ethos.
Can I mix your sculpted paper flowers with dried flowers?
Absolutely! The sculpted flowers are made from natural plant materials and dyes and so associate beautifully with dried flowers. The addition of paper flowers adds a huge extra dimension to your floral design, as it means you can choose any flower in any colour - even those you cannot dry. Wonderful flowers such as peonies, jasmine, sunflowers, dahlias and apple blossom become a possibility at Folly + Bird.
Can I have a bouquet made solely from sculpted paper flowers?
Yes, we do special commissions where you can have your bouquet and bridal suite made purely from sculpted paper flowers. There is a long lead-in time for this option, as each flower is hand-sculpted and so plenty of time is required. Folly + Bird only do a small number of these commission a year, so please contact us on follyandbird@gmail.com and we can discuss your wishes and requirements.
